Extending a Grid of Hydrodynamic Planetary Upper Atmosphere Models

چکیده
Abstract In this research note, we outline the extension of grid upper atmosphere models first presented in Kubyshkina et al. The original is based on a 1D hydrodynamic model and consists about 7000 covering planets size ranging from that Earth to twice Neptune at orbits corresponding equilibrium temperatures between 300 2000 K around solar-like (0.4 1.3 solar mass) stars. extended revised 10,235 points covers planetary mass range up 109 masses, which allows one transition low- high-gravity hot short period orbits. We prepared interpolation tool allowing use define mass-loss planet falls into parameter grid. provide comparison our results common analytical models.

A grid of polarization models for Rayleigh scattering planetary atmospheres
Context. Reflected light from giant planets is polarized by scattering, offering the possibility of investigating atmospheric properties with polarimetry. Polarimetric measurements are available for the atmospheres of solar system planets, and instruments are being developed to detect and study the polarimetric properties of extrasolar planets. Aims. We investigate the intensity and polarizatio...
متن کاملMars: upper atmosphere.
The thermal structure of the upper atmosphere of Mars has been theoretically investigated. The exospheric temperature, for a pure CO(2) model atmosphere, lies between 400 degrees and 700 degrees K. The origin of the Martian atmosphere is discussed in the light of these results.
متن کاملDoes the HD 209458 planetary system pose a challenge to the stellar atmosphere models?
Aims. There are very few comparisons between theoretical and empirical limb-darkening coefficients (LDCs). To develop this scenario, we analyse the case of the HD 209458 planetary system for which 10 passband measurements of linear and quadratic LDCs are
متن کاملExtending scalability of the community atmosphere model
The Community Atmosphere Model (CAM) is the atmosphere component of the Community Climate System Model (CCSM), and is the largest consumer of computing resources in typical CCSM simulations. The parallel implementation of the Community Atmosphere Model (CAM) employs a number of different domain decompositions. Currently, each decomposition must utilize the same number of MPI processes, limiting...
متن کاملWaves in Pluto’s Upper Atmosphere
Observations of the 2007 March 18 occultation of the star P445.3 (2UCAC 25823784; R = 15.3) by Pluto were obtained at high time resolution at five sites across the western United States and reduced to produce light curves for each station using standard aperture photometry. Global models of Pluto’s upper atmosphere are fitted simultaneously to all resulting light curves. The results of these mo...
